CNU TourS Outreach Program 2011

As promised, this is my full account on last year's CNU TourS Outreach Program held last December 21, 2011 at Brgy. Bunga municipality of Toledo, Cebu. ♥

Outreach...program ;D

So, on the early morning of December 21st we (me, the CNU TourS officers and some classmates) met at the Cebu City South Bus Terminal. This is where the meeting point is at. I woke up late because I stayed up all night the previous day. Good thing was I wasn't the only person who came late hahaha.

By 7:30am we were supposed to go board on a bus to Toledo already but since we were still waiting for few people, we stayed at the terminal for another 30mins. At then it started to rain.

It scared the hell out of me because I apparently, I don't have an umbrella. ;~;

I started to panic because 1.) I don't have any umbrella but I have a hoodie 2.) No one brought an umbrella. Internally, I was like KJWDHDJKDFHSFKFJNK RAIN STOP RAINING OMG LAH because as far as I know, the place where we will be having the program is a little bit mountainous and it may require us to walk if not ride on a habal-habal AND DIDN'T YOU GUYS KNOW IT'S SLIPPERY WHEN WET?  GUH. God must have heard my internal conflicts (word?) because in a matter of 15mins, the rain stopped! YAY. Thank you God! ♥

We then went inside the Airconditioned part of the terminal and paid a terminal fee of Php5.00 for maintenance, cleaning, etc. Waited for another 30mins. I skipped breakfast since I was already running late. I only had a cookie biscuit and some water for snacks/breakfast. Tired. Hungry. Headache time.

Finally boarding the bus!

I forgot how much we paid for the bus fare exactly. But I remember we got discount because we're students. ;D Mr. Conductor got pwned. Haggling for the bus fare took a lot of determination, strong will, some aegyo and of course, the magical student's ID for the record. MUAHAHA

The trip from Cebu City South Bus Terminal to Bgry. Bunga, Toledo took us around 2 hours. I didn't get that much sleep from last night so I tried to catch some nap. Also took some amazing landscape pictures:

Thank you Samsung Corby II.

My amateur photographic skills don't do justice to the beautiful scenery. But I really enjoy and appreciate the beauty of natural and undeveloped places like this. Since I was from an urban area, I rarely see trees and grasses. This is why I really really love the rural provincial life. I once said I'd rather plow land when I grow old long as I have WiFi connection loljks. But yes, I really love the provincial life. True story.

and some obligatory selca ;D

and another one

and the last one hahaha the wind was blowing so strong by this time.
Look at how my hair flies and all.

And, I think it was at exactly 10:30am, we arrived at Brgy. Bunga!

this is how a habal-habal looks like. It is riding on a motorcycle by 3:
1 driver and 2 passengers. Depends on the passengers' weight and size.

If you notice the lack of protective head gears like helmet, good job! I don't really know the reason behind it but probably it's because there aren't any traffic officials in the area so people don't use a helmet when riding a motorcycle. But they use caps, hoods and other protective gears to protect them from the heat of the sun. Riding on a motorcycle without a helmet and with 3 people is a big no in the city though. The maximum number of people to ride on a motorcycle is 2 otherwise you'd get a penalty ticket of overloading. And always always drive, responsibly! Wear a helmet.

We then headed to the house of their Brgy. Captain, whose name I totally forgot. Sorry  Mr. Brgy. Captain. But he was really really accommodating. He even treat us to lunch and I swear, it was superb! We had a Bisayang Tinolang Manok. It's like native chicken in a soup.. and I think it was called kinilaw na talong (Eggplant with vinegar and tomatoes and salt). I don't eat kinilaw raw in English, so meh. Kinilaw usually means something raw with vinegar. That is, to my own understanding of the food.

Upon our arrival and while waiting for the lunch prepared by the Brgy. Captain (Thank You again, Kap!) we started packing the goodies we were to give to the little kids. ;D This was such a fun thing to do.

 I haz biceps lol

While we were busy packing, our Seniors from the League of Tourism Students of the Philippines did the cooking at the kitchen. They prepared Fried Chicken, Spaghetti and Rice for the kids and their guardians for later's program. Approximate number of kids were a hundred. That's a lot, already. ♥

Cooking. It's more fun in the Philippines! ;D

This is how we do cooking in the province. You can say it's the traditional way of cooking with use of wood and fire. When I was born, our family has already used a gas range to be able to cook food. We even have rice cookers already but since it's so costly esp. in electricity bills, we stopped using it. The smoke coming from the burned wood actually stings the eye but that's part of the learning process. ^^;;v

The ingredients:

Hotdog

for the Spaghetti: spaghetti sauce, ground pork meet, cheese, milk, etc.

Fried Chicken and the pasta~

After lunch, we prepared everything and then! We're ready for the program! ;D

the food and the freebies~

the drinks~

Of course, obligatory poses. What else do you expect?

L-R: Our Senior from LTSP, Gen Gador, Flor Quiapo and Zayra Dranto

L-R: Randee from LTSP, me and Ivon Gepitulan.

Off we go to the Brgy. Hall where the program and all the fun will be happening!

Huling hirit sa pics~

Sungkyunkwan Scandal loljks.

Will have to cut this post into 2 because there's a whole lot of pics already. Haha. Next post will be posted by the end of this week. Hopefully. Midterm will commence tomorrow! YAY~ good luck to me~ ;D
