Research Congress '09

The hard-work, the long nights of staying awake, from sunshine to rain, and all the other things that contributed to the stress we felt while conducting the research was paid off.

It was a forum of knowledge from the 7 departments in my school and we stood out~! Unexpectedly, we won as the over-all champion for the Student's Research Congress last February 14th. As a treat, our principal took to us to lunch on a fancy restaurant just across the school. We saved money!

Our research was entitled "The Factors Affecting the Failing Grades of the Fourth Year High School Students". The factors identified were grouped into five: Teacher Related Factors, Student Related Factors, School Related Factors, Parent/Home Related Factors and Environment Related Factors.

When the panel of judges asked us some questions about our objectives, we kinda answered wrongly. Mr. Ventura, the judge who asked the question said that the kind of research we conducted was a bit not fit for our capabilities because we are high school students and there's still a whole lot thing to do. We just went the other way around. He advised it will be better if we researched about something more fit to us. But he prided and congratulated us for being able to come up with results that are reasonable enough.

Though we've made conclusions, we unfortunately have to start from scratch. We are still unfinished and we will hopefully be continuing the research. *cries* I guess I have to brace myself for another hectic schedule.

Anyways, to be fair enough, the 1st Prize winner was the College of Arts and Sciences and the 2nd Prize was the College of Pharmacy.

I kinda really don't remember the titles of the other department's research. I guess I'll just post them up whenever I get to know more about it. XD

College of Accountancy and Engineering weren't able to present their research due to inevitable yet unknown circumstances. But they received Consolation prizes.

In behalf of my colleagues, I'd like to have this opportunity to thank everyone who supported, believed and helped us in making this research. We owe the success of this research to the following people lovely people:

First, our adviser, Mr. Emerson Aller, who believed in us though we didn't really do well, still we did won. Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to be part of this research.

Second, all our teachers who were every understanding and excused us from their classes while we did the research. Especially to our Computer teachers Mrs. Ancajas and Mrs. Baflor. Thanks! And to Ms. Michelle who helped us in the printing process. And to Mrs. Bandajon, our principal for letting us use the printer to print papers. And for the lunch! THANKS!

Third, our classmates who supported us all through the way. Thanks! Your support was our strength. To Mia and Jesu who were always accompanying us every night, keeping us awake by their stinking rumor, haha! Mia, don't worry our deal is canceled. XD You don't have to be absent for a day anymore! haha!

Fourth, our families who were waiting for us every night when we came home late. I know it burdens you all to see that your children are coming home late but please, I hope you would all be more understanding next time. At least our hard work paid off. XD And please don't ask for the prize we received. It'll serve as our gift if you won't get it from us. Thanks again!

And lastly, to the Lord God above who gave us the strength in staying awake, the courage to walk another step forward as we strut our way in the campus even if its really dark, for the perseverance, the faith, hope and knowledge that you've given us, words can't describe how thankful we are from you. We really owe it all to you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
