Merry Christmas 2011

I wanted to make another video just like last my Christmas Video of 2009 but I don't have a proper digital equipment to be able to record a decent video greeting now... so meh. ;D

This Christmas, I must say, is probably the grandest Christmas I ever had so far. I may have only spent it with my parents (Mom and Step-dad) unlike the usual celebration with our relatives (but I'm not complaining!) and all but this Christmas, I have helped families. ;-)

On the 21st, together with the CNU Tourism Society (TourS) officers in partnership with the League of Tourism Students in the Philippines (LTSP), we had an outreach program and fed the little kids in Brgy. Bunga, municipality of Toledo, Cebu City. It was my first time to do such thing. And it was really really really heartwarming. The place is a small barangay situated in the Southwest part of Cebu island.

As you can see, I've been exercising. Hello biceps. lol

I was the former Secretary of the TourS organization. Why I didn't ran for a re-election, don't ask. Anyways during our term last school year, we thought of doing an outreach program instead of a Christmas Party because we wanted to "give back in our own little way". But due to time constraints and the lack of connection (people of authority/officials) our ignorance in those stuff blah blah the "thought" totally washed down the drain. Now, with Michael's (former Vice-Governor of the org) lead as this year/semester's Governor, we were able to immortalize the outreach program! ♥

Now that we finally have a PC of our own, I will make a proper blogpost about the outreach program. If we're friends in Facebook, you can check the pics there. Moving on~

Last December 16th, Typhoon Sendong struck the southern part of the Philippines especially in Mindanao. Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City experienced the fury of the typhoon that it resulted to over 1,000 casualties and damaged millions worth of properties. I personally have a soft spot for both cities since Step-dad's family migrated in Iligan (they've been spared from the calamity, thank God) and we've spent Summer Vacation there. As for Cagayan de Oro, we recently had our Educational Tour there. I even made a blog post of it, as seen in my previous post.

The families in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities needed immediate help since most of their houses and belongings were either washed away by the flood and/or are covered with mud. Cagayan de Oro came from the word cagay/kagay which meant river. The river connecting Cagayan and Bukidnon (as what I understood on the news reports) over flowed which resulted to a great flood. Bukidnon came from the bukid which meant mountains so the place was spared by Typhoon Sendong's wrath. Heavy rainfall started pouring at night time when all the families were asleep. There were news bulletins about the typhoon though but most of them (families) did not really expect it would turn out this way. It's just sad.

So I thought, this time I will really help in my own way. On the 22nd, I donated two bags of used clothing in behalf of our family to ABS-CBN Cebu's Kapamilya Relief Campaign in Fuente OsmeƱa Circle. I also volunteered to help in re-packing the relief goods since it's Christmas Break and all. Initially, I would be going to the regional network station at Jagobiao, Mandaue. It was all thanks to Zarah's mom who had the connections. ;D but since there were some...misunderstanding  mis-communication etc. etc~ we were told to just go to our school because the repacking of goods is held there too. Since I live nearby, I went right away.

done with the volunteer work! together with the other student volunteers and policemen, we filled the kaohsiong bus with 450 sacks of relief goods which will be sent to the families in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro~ ♥ my 6 hours of volunteer work was definitely worth it! ^^

Again, I will try to make a more decent post of the volunteer work I did. I also heard I was featured in the local afternoon news. WHAT IS FAME loljks. I wasn't able to witness my TV debut though because we were busy repacking the relief goods until 5PM. I was still on my way home when I received an SMS from Zarah's sister that she saw me on TV. I also received "I saw you on the news" congratulatory messages in Facebook hahahaha! Anyways, I represented our school and Cassiopeia *points at my red lanyard* xDDDD

It's 15 minutes more before Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas everyone! May you all have a wonderful time with your family, friends and strangers! ;) Let's all give our time and love this Christmas! Love you all~♥
